Timpuyog Organization's Fall Picnic
The Timpuyog Organization's semestral picnic was held on Saturday, September 19 at Magic Island (Site 40). Students from both the University of Hawai'i at Manoa and West Oahu's Ilokano Language and Literature program were in attendance. Special guests such as Dr. Amy Agbayani and Vice Chancellor Doris Ching were also in attendance. A few members of iTM were at the event as well. The members that attended were Dean, George, and Rowena, all of whom have been affiliated with the Ilokano program as well as the Timpuyog Organization. iTM decided to attend the event to show support, as all of our missions are to promote the Ilokano language and culture.
With the sun shining down on the attendees and tradewinds blowing and keeping everyone cool, everyone had a great time! Between 9am and 2pm, Ilokano cultural and language games were played, the tug-of-war competition went into full effect, and a frozen t-shirt game kept attendees busy. After all the games were done, lunch was served. Dishes displayed on the lunch table included: pancit, fried chicken, adobo, pinakbet, Zippy's pupu platter, boxes of pizza, and so much more. Once lunch was over, students took some time to rehearse their class presentations. This semester, class presentations consisted of song and dance, cheers, and mini skits. Overall, the event was a success! It was a day where the Ilokano pride was displayed for all Ala Moana Beach Park goers to see!
